BOBBY'S STORY – PART
1 By Ruth and Rita Johnson
“Someday” thought
Bashful Bob,
“Now There’s Only Me,
instead of Staying In, I’ll ask
Susie Baby to
the Holly Hop on Saturday for a
Wild Night.
At A Time Like This,
I’m sure I’ll be able to buy 2 tickets, and we’ll be able to
Rave On until the early hours. I must tell her to
Please Don’t
Ask About Barbara”. Barbara was the girl with whom he thought he
would have A Forever Kind Of Love – whenever he saw her, he
heard a strange sound and thought Hark Is That A Cannon I Hear
?, but it was just my racing
Heartbeat. “How Many Tears have I
cried over her” he thought- “More Than I Can Say I suppose. Very
soon it will stop Raining In My Heart”. Barbara didn’t believe
that The Night Has A Thousand Eyes when she was unfaithful with
Mr. Blue – she believed the eyes were
Angels In The Sky. When
Bashful found out, she said : “Will I see you
Bobby – Tomorrow?”
He just gave her One Last Kiss and said “I’m not going to be
Sharing You with anyone, so you can use your
Charms on others.
Maybe Baby if you
Come Back When You Grow Up, we’ll start again
and I’ll be Walking With My Angel. Walking along the road the
next day, Bobby spotted his old mate
Bo Diddley on
The Opposite
side of the road, and thought “I’ll
Run To Him”, but had to
Run
Like The Devil to catch him up. “What Do You Want?” asked Bo.
“Well I was On The Street Where We Grew Up, and I thought we’d
catch up on news – it’s not Everyday I see you, especially
Early
In The Morning. I had
A Letter From Betty, and she says there
are many Beautiful People on the beach playing with a big
Rubber
Ball. She wanted to join in, so she said to her friend
Lucille –
“Take Good Care Of My Baby, I
Sincerely won’t be long”.
Lucille
laughed and said “Maybe Just Today then, I’ll treat her just
like My Little Girl.
I’m Sorry I can’t have her for long, as my
lunch break is nearly Gone, but It’s
All In The Game”.
Bo remarked he was trying to forget about
Susie Q, but said “I
Can’t Say Goodbye to her. I
Keep On Trying, but
Every Little Bit
Hurts, and I just want
Someone To Love Me”. “Never mind”, said
Bobby, “everyone falls In And Out Of Love,
Cross My Heart –
you’ll soon meet someone new, so don’t
Punish Her.” “Well All
Right”, replied Bo, “I guess it would be for the best. At least
there will be No Obligations. Bobby mate, please
Don’t Breathe A
Word about this. People would laugh at me for not knowing if she
was a Devil Or Angel. Sometimes she was bad to me, but other
times she was so sweet.” Continuing on with news, Bobby asked,
“Do you remember when Johnny and Diana, who lived over the road
from us, had that big argument on the
Midnight Shift at work at
the Sunrise Highway holiday shop?” “Yes”, remembered Bo,
“That’ll Be The Day when she didn’t want to
Hold On To Him, and
said “Take A Walk, Johnny”. He said he was
Going Nowhere
so didn’t Get The Message
that it was a Lovers Goodbye. As he was a
Stubborn Kind Of Fellow, he thought she would
Walk Right Back to
him so Willingly. I advised Johnny:
Don’t Ever Take Her For
Granted, but he had
So Much Love to give her.
Oh Boy, just
Think
It Over. I hope
She Loves You Johnny. If I’m
Right Or Wrong, all
you can do is Be True To Yourself and be happy. “I remember that
too, and then they got married three months later.” Both Bobby
and Bo agreed that It Couldn’t Happen To A Nicer Guy” Time was
getting on so Bobby and Bo both said goodbye, and arranged to
meet up soon. Bobby continued on his way, and stopped
Halfway
Down The Road, where he saw a girl who had a familiar face.
“Excuse me” he remarked, walking up to the girl. “I think I know
you – What’s Your Name? Aren’t you
A Girl I Used To Know? I must
Keep On Trying to remember. Yes – I know you from
our
Schooldays,
Remember Me Huh?” Smiling, the girl replied, “How
could I forget you Bobby!” Bobby said “You’re
Linda Lu aren’t
you? – you were dating a Ginger-haired,
Brown Eyed Handsome Man.
In fact you were the Girl Of My Best Friend Robin,
affectionately known as Rocking Robin. I said to you that you
should Never Love A Robin. I let
My Golden Chance go by with you
when you were just Sweet Little Sixteen
and Looking For Love.
At one time you were my Theme For A Dream.” Linda said “I’m still
with Robin, and we are very happy.” “Good for you” said Bobby
warmly. “Did you know, Bobby, that our old teacher
Mister
Sandman, who lived in a
Caravan with his girlfriend Irene, split
up?” “No I didn’t”, answered Bobby, “that’s a surprise. I always
thought of Irene as His Shadow – they were always together. What
happened?” Linda explained that they had just drifted apart. “He
said to her “Let’s Call It A Day Girl. You’d better
Dry Your
Eyes because
It Doesn’t Matter Anymore.
Goodnight Irene – go and
Do What You Gotta Do,
You’re A Big Girl Now.
This Is Where
Friendship Ends – it was only a
Light Infatuation.” “Now if It’s
All The Same to you, Linda,” Bobby said, I must
Fly Away now as
I am meeting my Sweet Pea (that’s my pet name for Susie)” “Where
Is She?” Linda asked. “At the Honeycomb ice cream parlour
downtown, run by Peggy Sue.
I Gotta Know if she’s wearing her
Lavender Blue dress, and enjoying a
Lollipop which she loves to
eat, but The Girl Can’t Help It. I used to laugh at that, but
That’s All In The Past, and
I Wouldn’t Change A Thing.” “Susie
was talking earlier about Three On A Date. I suppose she was
talking about Hickory, Dick And Doc! However, I’ve decided to
take her on a romantic Sea Cruise tonight, and I’ll be
Pledging
My Love so I hope she doesn’t say
You’d Better Move On, and I’m
sure you will Forget Me Not, then fly away like a
Butterfly. I’m
going to speak Words Of Love to her at
Every Opportunity, and
hope she’ll Listen To Me and there will be no more
Blue Days,
Black Nights. I know there are
Pretty Girls Everywhere but she
is Poetry In Motion and has a lovely
Sunny nature and I just
Love, Love, Love her.
If My World Falls Through and she makes it
a Turn Down Day then I’ll remember her as
The Girl I Left Behind
Me. So What Else Is New?” Linda said snidely “There is a bone I
need to pick with you about a phone call some years ago.” Bobby
looking sheepish said “Guess Who was the fool from whom you
received an Anonymous Phone Call? Sorry, it was me but I think
you had a Suspicion that I loved your
Baby Face and I had
Tears
On My Pillow, but you were
Just A Dream. I just wanted to be
Tenderly Yours, and I had
Long Lonely Nights thinking about
you”. Bobby and Linda said their goodbyes, and he headed into
town where he met Susie. They enjoyed a fling together but then
Bobby met and married a lovely girl called Karen. They were
lucky enough to have four lovely children – three sons called
Rob, Tom and Jeff, and a daughter called Jennifer, and they all
lived happily ever after.
